Post your suggestions here for what book to read over break! I'll make a poll later (and archive this topic) so we can decide If you can put a little bit of your reasoning here it might help win people over to your side

I'm voting Cat's Cradle! I've never read Vonnegut and this is one of his best works (so I hear) and it seems like it'd be a nice read over the break (cynicism, anyone?) so yea! That's mine!

Cat's Cradle is a fun book, i'd want to that one or The Long Earth (Terry Pratchett)...but only because i've been dying to discuss it with someone. haha

I vote our first book should be Invader, the sequel to Foreigner.
...No? Maybe I'm the only one who wants to read the rest...
Slaughterhouse 5. I've always wondered what the heck that was about.
In addition, I've read a book called Interstellar Pig that I enjoyed. It's by William Sleator. It's definitely hard-core sci-fi, but even though I enjoyed it, it's a young adult novel and I think it might be beneath the level of most of us here (it wouldn't surprise me if a couple people here finished it in one day). But I've liked that book for a long time so I thought I' d suggest it

I am all for reading the second novel of the Foreigner series, but will we have enough time to read that ontop of what we have to do for school. In addition it is a thirteen book series as of now, which will take up thirteen months of our meetings. I am all for this, but I just wanted to raise that point to be sure everyone is on board with it.

We don't have to read all thirteen of them. We can just read the second one and if we decide we want to explore other novels we can leave it whenever. My concern about continuing the Foreigner series is that it may discourage new members from joining because they have not read the first one...but I suppose that'd be something to worry about after the group is actually up and running.

I would be up for a Pratchet novel.
I also wanted to read The Windup Girl (I can't remember the author's name at the moment), and something by China Mieville.

Just as an FYI, the class is reading Metropolis and Ender's Game this semester instead of Black No More and Foreigner this semester. If you have any interest in reading discussing those, let me know!

I'll have more options after I check my list!

Whoops, wrong thread! I'll move this into the next month's reading discussion.
